The catchment area is about 303 kilometer square (see Fig.), which has better vegetative cover than other reservoirs in Taiwan and, therefore, its soil erosion problem is also less serious. Effective managemant of the catchment area, it can be achieved through proper coordination and close cooperation with the authorities concerned, so as to minimize reservoir silting and extend reservoir life.
