IntroductionThe Feitsui Reservoir Project, a long-range water source development subproject of the Taipei Regional Water Supply Fourth Stage Development Project, is aimed at providing the Taipei water supply region with a dependable source of water for domestic and industrial use.The Taipei water supply region includes Taipei City as well as Sanzhong, Xindian, Yonghe, Zhonghe, Dansui and Sanzhi townships of Taipei County. The damsite of the Feitsui Reservoir is located near the mouth of the Beishi Creek, a tributary of the Xindian Creek about 30 km south of Taipei City.

Flood control is not one of the primary functions of this project, and for the fullest utilization of the available water resources, a power plant with an installed capacity of 70,000 Kw was included.

The implementation of the Feitsui Reservoir Project by the Taipei City Government was approved by the Exceutive Yuan in January 1979.
