Looking forward to rain again, The Taipei Feitsui Reservoir Administration released the rain-increasing flame agent for the second time today.

Another front of spring rain is expected to arrive. The Taipei Feitsui Reservoir Administration announced that, based on meteorological observations, there will be rainfall in the reservoir catchment area today (29th). Therefore, ground-based artificial rain operations will be implemented again in the afternoon.

Yu-i Lin, the director of the Feitsui Reservoir Administration, stated that the Feitsui Reservoir not only serves as a source of domestic water for 6 million people in Greater Taipei but also assists in relieving the water supply pressure of Shimen Reservoir and Xinshan Reservoir, ensuring normal water supply for all counties and cities in northern Taiwan.

According to the statistics of the Feitsui Reservoir Administration, the accumulated rainfall from the beginning of this year to today is 383 millimeters, which is about 62% of the average for the same period in previous years, making it the fourth driest period in history. In light of this situation, while meeting the daily water demand, the reservoir operation adheres to the principle of saving water and tries to reduce water release as much as possible. As a result, the current water level of the reservoir is still at the same level as the historical average, serving as a guardian of the water source for Greater Taipei.

Yu-i Lin emphasized that, given that the previous dry spell has not been resolved, and the water situation in the central and southern parts of Taiwan is still critical, we should remain vigilant in northern Taiwan. Therefore, taking advantage of the upcoming front of spring rain, ground-based artificial rain operations will be implemented again on the Feitsui Dam at 2:30 pm today (29th), hoping to increase the water level of the reservoir.
