To meet the water demand of Taipei area, Taipei Feitsui Reservoir supplied about 221.3 million cubic meters of raw water to Taipei Water Department. In addition, about 123.2 million cubic meters of tap water were supplied to Taiwan Water Corporation.
2. Water Quality
A proper reservoir water management system is needed to provide healthy quality water. The Carlson’s Trophic State Index of November 2014 is 37.59, which falls under the oligotrophic level and it is consumable for the general public.
Environmental impact assessment for Feitsui reservoir caused by major transport projects was completed. The impact factors and potential impacts such as water pollution, reservoir siltation and water quantity are reported.
A long-term monitor program for the environmental radiation of the Feitsui reservoir’s catchment area to observe its radiation changes was completed. The water quality of Feitsui reservoir was ensured this year.
3. Dam Safety
During December’s monthly dam safety inspection, a total of 2,287 measurements by appropriate personnel and 7,595 measurements by the remote control system were completed, thus ensuring the stability of the dam.
The second log boom in Feitsui Reservoir was completed this year to strengthen the dam safety.
After flood season operation this year, all control gates of Feitsui reservoir were tested and behave normally.
4. Water Sales Statistics
22.28 million cubic meters of water were sold in December 2014, generating sales revenue of NT$11.6 million. As of December, the total revenue reached NT$115.1 million.
The amount of electricity generated was 10.3 million kWh; sales revenue was NT$23.2 million. As of December, the total revenue reached NT$373.2 million.
5. Water Quality Protection
To strengthen the protection of our water resource, Taipei Feitsui Reservoir Administration, Taipei Water Management Office, Department of Environmental Protection and the New Taipei City Government conducted joint surveillances to inspect and protect the catchment area. Four joint inspections in December around camping sites, upstream deer farms, and areas of possible source of pollutions have been carried out.
6. Water Resources Eco-Education
In December, a total of 514 visitors (12 groups), comprising members from the general public, the academia, and industrial and business circles have visited the reservoir. The cumulative total of visitors in 2014 is 15,798.
The Home of Taipei Water Festival was held on December 21 with a total of 110 participants.
